A pizza delivery man displayed extraordinary bravery when he risked his own safety to rescue five children from a blazing house in Indiana during the late hours of the night. Nicholas Bostic, a 25-year-old individual delivery man, was in the vicinity when he noticed a home consumed by flames. His immediate, instinctual response was to rush in and save the occupants.

Without hesitation, he entered the engulfed house through the rear entrance, even as it was shrouded in thick, black smoke. Bostic managed to successfully rescue four children whose ages ranged from 1 to 18 years. Following this initial rescue, he courageously re-entered the burning home to save the fifth child. Exiting through a window, he held the 6-year-old child and, selflessly, used his own body to shield the child from harm as they landed.

This harrowing incident unfolded in Lafayette, Indiana, and the Lafayette Police Department later confirmed that the child had miraculously sustained mostly minor injuries, according to reports from PEOPLE magazine. Nicholas Bostic, however, suffered severe smoke inhalation and sustained a deep gash on his arm. As the first responders arrived on the scene, his immediate concern was for the well-being of the child, as he anxiously asked, “Please tell me that baby is OK.”

Bostic recounted to local media that while he was driving, he noticed a house engulfed in flames. He immediately rushed to the scene, determined to provide assistance. As smoke rapidly filled the residence, he courageously forced his way through the rear entrance. His primary concern was the safety of the children residing upstairs, and he successfully rescued them.

Once safely outside, the young occupants informed him that their 6-year-old sibling remained trapped inside. Without hesitation, he retraced his steps and headed back upstairs. Despite conducting an exhaustive search, he was unable to locate the child in the bedroom.

At that moment, driven by the cries of a distressed child on the lower floor, he steeled his resolve. Overcoming his own fear, he shielded his mouth and nose with his shirt and navigated through the smoke-filled stairwell, akin to a “black lagoon.” His determination led him to the source of the cries, and he found the trapped child. However, due to the dense smoke obstructing his path, he couldn’t find an immediate escape route. With unwavering determination, he decided to return upstairs, braving both intense heat and thick smoke to reach safety.
